Around Mildura

We visited Orange World in Mildura.  We had a great afternoon out there and learnt all about citrus fruits. They have 10 000 fruit trees on 50 acres and all their water comes from the Murray.  We got the feeling it was a very tough business to be in with them only getting 20c a kilo for their oranges.

From Mildura we drove towards Wentworth where Australia's two greatest rivers meet, The Darling River and the Murray River.  We read that Wentworth was one of the last few towns they were deciding on for Australia's capital city.  Hard to imagine Australia's capital all the way out here!!
Our last stop before Broken Hill was Perry Sandhills just out of Wentworth.  Amazing how sandhills seem to just pop up in the middle of nowhere.

A big River Red Gum part buried by the sand.
